Our Shining Stars

Grace

Grace is 8 years old and full of kindness, compassion, and joy. However, Grace also struggles to control her emotions and behavior, and has bullied multiple times at school, including one incident of being thrown at a wall by an older child.

Grace has been diagnosed with SPD, PTSD, Emotional disability, anxiety, insomnia, depression & learning disability. Grace’s little brother Levi was diagnosed at age 2 with autism before he passed. Per her mother, Grace is suffering incredibly in all areas of life especially learning & emotional regulation. There is a family history of autism, all of Julia’s sister’s children have autism as well. Due to Grace’s struggles as well as her younger brother’s diagnosis, her mother feel Grace may also be on the spectrum.

Because of her learning and behavioral challenges, Grace has been faced with bullying from others and it’s starting to take its toll. Grace often tells her mother, “I don’t matter to this world. Everything is so hard.” Julie does what she can to be strong for Grace and reassure her she does matter.

Finding support and resources has been more than difficult for Julie and Grace, especially being a family living off less than $125 a month, after bills. Julia hopes that this evaluation will bring new understanding and provide answers to help better support her “Amazing Grace,” as she calls her.
